Internships

Interns at a rally

Interns are a crucial part of our work protecting the Appalachian region. Our internships are known for providing students with a thorough and rewarding experience of working in the day-to-day operations of a nonprofit campaign.

Internships can be completed for academic credit through an approved school program, or for extra work experience without academic ties. Internships are paid, and include a mix of on-site and remote/hybrid work, depending on the position.

Our internships span the gamut of nonprofit work, such as organizing with our on-the-ground campaigns, conducting data-driven research, assisting with our communications team, writing for our journalistic publication, The Appalachian Voice, helping with our outreach program, and more. Our internships have included:

— Coal Impacts Campaign Assistant
— North Carolina Pipelines Assistant
— Solar Energy Education Assistant
— Virginia Grassroots Organizing Assistant
— Data Research Assistant
— Editorial Communications Assistant
— Outreach and Operations Assistant
— Web Developer/IT Assistant
